Yeezus, Kanye West’s highly anticipated sixth studio album was leaked today (June 14, 2013) which is less than a week before its June, 18 release date.

On an album named Yeezus that has tracks like Black Skinned,I Am A God and New Slaves you would expect Kanye’s lyrical content to be spiritual and political based, which it is at times, but not nearly as much as you would expect on a project with a Christian themed title. Instead, the majority of the lyrics on Kanye’s ten-track album is filled with random punch lines that are often hit-and-miss.

There is no lack of creative effort on the production of this album. Many of the songs on Kanye’s album combine Drum & Base, R&B and Electronic music. The outcome again is hit-or-miss but you have to applaud the effort.

Kanye managed to combine his obscure beats and lyrics to create a pretty decent album. Yeezus may not be Kanye West’s best work but it is definitely one of his more creative projects and is worth listening to.

Overall Rating: B-
